Maritime professional development

We conduct a wide variety of short courses in the following areas:
  • Complying with STCW certification requirements for personnel serving on board merchant ships or commercial yachts, including the amendments required by the 2010 Manila conference.
  • OPITO approved safety courses for the offshore oil and gas industry.
  • Continuing professional development for seafarers at all levels – from new entrants to senior Masters, ships’ pilots and Chief Engineers. Some courses are designed to meet individual company requirements, such as team training for bridge or engine room personnel.
  • Petrochemical and tanker qualifications through courses audited and approved by Classification Society Det Norske Veritas (DNV).

Most of our courses are held on our campus at Warsash, but if it is appropriate to do so, we can also conduct training on board ship or at other external locations.

Our staff are all specialists in their subject areas and we have an international reputation for the quality and professionalism of our training provision and in our ability to satisfy our customers' training needs.

Whether training is required in maritime and offshore safety, fire fighting, first aid and medical care, radio communications, ship handling, bridge and engine room resource management, or training in the application of navigation, radar and ECDIS techniques, we are here to help.

My staff and I look forward to welcoming you to Warsash Maritime Academy.

Mark Bee, Interim Head of Maritime Professional Development
