150 Navigation, Marine Engineer and Electro-Technical Officer Cadets from Southampton Solent University’s Warsash Maritime Academy celebrated their graduation to fully qualified officers at their summer passing out ceremony in Southampton Guildhall on Saturday 18th June 2011.

150 Navigation, Marine Engineer and Electro-Technical Officer Cadets from Southampton Solent University’s Warsash Maritime Academy celebrated their graduation to fully qualified officers at their summer passing out ceremony in Southampton Guildhall last week.
The newly qualified officers will be embarking on their chosen careers in worldwide shipping, working with some of the most prestigious employers in the cruise, cargo, container, oil and gas sectors.
Top employers Anglo Eastern Group, Bibby Ship Management, BP Shipping, BW Fleet Management, Carisbrooke Shipping, Carnival UK, Fred Olsen, Chiltern Maritime, Clyde Marine Training, Gulf Manning Services, Maersk, NYK LNG Ship Management, Princess Cruises, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Saga Shipping Company Ltd, Sealion Shipping, Shell International Shipping Services, Ship Safe Training Group Ltd., Viking Recruitment and Zodiac Maritime Agencies were represented at the ceremony.
Admiral The Right Honourable Lord West of Spithead GCB DSC PC DUniv and Chancellor of Southampton Solent University was guest of honour at the even and spoke on behalf of the maritime industry.
Professor Van Gore, the University’s Vice-Chancellor, said: “A Warsash Maritime Academy qualification is not easily gained but is recognised to be the best in the world. My warmest congratulations to all our cadets who are graduating today.”
Andrew Hair, Director of the Academy said: “The passing out ceremony marks a major accomplishment by the Officer Cadets in successfully completing their academic and professional programmes and I wish them every success as they embark upon their professional careers”
