Engine Room Simulator

The Engine Room Simulator consists of an engine room control room with comprehensive distributed control and electrical power and distribution systems, remotely located emergency switchboard room and engine room. It is ideal for team based engine room resource management training. It can be linked to a bridge simulator to provide a total ship simulation training environment.

Full Mission Bridge Simulator

WMA's FMS training uses a newly commissioned Kongsberg Maritime Polaris bridge simulator with 270 degree horizontal view, which can be panned through 360 degrees and with offset views. Control equipment replicating various vessel configurations are available including single/twin screw, single/twin rudders, bow/stern thrusters and azipods. An extensive portfolio of ownships and database areas exists. Others can be built to order. Independent desktop consoles can drive two additional ownships/tugs.

Steam Plant Simulator

The Steam Plant Simulator is a fully functioning distributed control system for the steam plant of an LNG tanker. The system includes full LNG boil-off burning control. It can be used as stand-alone workstations for training individuals, or as an integrated control room environment for engine room resource management team training.

Liquid Cargo Operations Simulator

The Liquid Cargo Operation Simulator (LICOS) provides real time simulation of the process flow control systems used in the storage and transfer of potentially hazardous bulk liquids.

Currently LICOS is capable of representing the controls, equipment, machinery, instrumentation and alarms associated with 7 ship types:

  • LNG (membrane)
  • LNG (spherical)
  • LPG
  • VLCC
  • Double Hull crude oil/products carrier
  • Chemical tanker
  • Floating production storage and offloading facility

10-acre Manned Model Lake

Seven scale model ships are operated on a lake of approximately 10 acres. They range from a 300,000 ton tanker model to a twin screw superferry. The lake is laid out with a variety of berths and channels including a canal incorporating a curved section.

Seamanship Centre

The Seamanship Centre at Warsash Maritime Academy offers an excellent variety of facilities in which delegates can develop skills and understanding in practical seamanship. With equipment ranging from pilot ladders to scale models of derricks and hatches, the centre provides an environment from which effective learning can take place.

Vessel Traffic Simulator

A fully equipped VTS simulator including Supervisor’s and operators positions each having dual screens, VHF radio and telephone. There is also a chart table and “White board” to enable the most complex simulated VTS scenarios to be exercised. Exercises can be monitored using radio, telephone and CCTV for debrief purposes.
