Marine Electro-Technical Officer (METO) Cadet - MNTB Workshop Skills Training

About this course

Unless a candidate is exempted by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency due to previous industrial experience/qualifications, an MNTB Workshop Skills Training programme has to be undertaken and passed before initial certification as marine electro-technical officer (METO) can be gained.

The training programme covers all relevant workshop skills elements, including industrial wiring management, cabling, fabrication, electronics, generators, distribution, electric motors, power conversions, lighting, instrumentation, high voltage, marine radio and electronic navigational equipment.

This programme is normally undertaken as part of the Marine Electro-Technical Officer (METO) cadet certification course.
