Training and Staff
The staff at the Centre are all senior mariners often with long command and/or pilotage experience including serving pilots who give some of their off duty time on the ship handling lake. All are very experienced lecturers who go through a long training period in the use of the manned models as well as in teaching skills. Mariners are thus assisted during their time on the lake by staff all of whom have spent many years at sea themselves and have the highest professional qualifications. It is vital that all students leave such training and professional development with their knowledge, skills and confidence enhanced and thus the lecturer/instructor is one of the most important parts of the training.
