On Saturday 26 November, 46 newly-qualified navigation officers from January 2014 foundation degree and HND cohorts celebrated the completion of their three-year merchant navy training and education programme.
The cadets were joined by family and friends, as well as sponsors and representatives from shipping organisations, and staff from Solent University and the Academy.
Professor Jane Longmore, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Solent University, gave the closing address and congratulated the officers in a heart-felt speech, describing their passing out as a “major accomplishment, and a proud moment for families and friends”.
John Bazley, Operations Manager at Warsash, said: “It takes a lot of hard work and determination to get to where they are today. We wish these newly qualified navigation officers every success as they embark upon their professional careers in worldwide shipping”.
Some of the maritime industry’s top employers and sponsors attended the ceremony, including: BP Shipping, Carisbrooke Shipping, Carnival UK, Chiltern Maritime, Clyde Marine Training, NYK LNG Shipmanagement (UK) Ltd, Princess Cruises, Ship Safe Training Group, Trinity House and Viking Recruitment.
Congratulations to all the cadets.
