A flying start to 2010 at Warsash

2010 has been given a flying start atWarsash Maritime Academy by scoring two significant successes before the end of January.

The shipping industry’s continued commitment to cadet training, and its faith in the Academy, was demonstrated by a very healthy January intake and an above target figure for the whole academic year.

The other highlight was equally encouraging with 320 potential officer cadets attending the annual careers open day to hear first hand from the industry about the sponsored training, professional qualifications and great career prospects on offer.

Director of Warsash Maritime Academy , John Millican, said:   “Shipping is a vital international industry that is still offering sponsored training, leading to real jobs and exciting careers.   In the current economic climate this is really good news.”

A seminar prior to the annual open day, exploring the current workings and future developments in officer cadetships, attracted over sixty delegates from the industry who shared their views and heard about how the Academy is developing its education and training services to keep them relevant to the changing needs of employers.
