Our teaching expertise is highly respected internationally, attracting professional seafarers from around the globe to our training courses and programmes. We manage over 10,000 student enrolments each year and employ over 120 highly qualified and experienced maritime lecturers and technical instructors to ensure that our students receive first-class teaching provision.
The large majority of the Academy's teaching staff and many of our operational support staff are current or former seafarers, with specialist knowledge from maritime-related industries such as commercial maritime, naval architecture, maritime law, the Royal Navy and the offshore industry. Their professional expertise is fully supported by our policy of continuous professional development and enhancement of teaching and technical skills.
Active participation in the work of professional and industry bodies ensures that our staff members are involved in the decision-making processes that shape maritime education and training policy.
