Certificate of Proficiency in Basic Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations

About this course

This course is made up of a mixture of classroom based theory sessions, practical demonstrations, exercises, audio-visual displays and group discussions.

The course provides delegates with the knowledge to:

  • Contribute to the safe cargo operation of a liquefied gas tanker.
  • Take precautions to prevent hazards.
  • Apply occupational health and safety precautions and measures.
  • Respond to emergencies.
  • Take precautions to prevent pollution of the environment from the release of liquefied gas.

The course is also available to industry professionals who do not require STCW Certification.

This course is delivered from our new maritime simulation centre at Solent University's main East Park Terrace campus in Southampton city centre. Please check your joining instructions for further information.

STCW Training in Tanker Fire Fighting

In order to comply with the STCW A-V requirements, and to be able to apply for the Dangerous Cargo Endorsement without delay, you must be in possession of a Training in Tanker Fire Fighting certificate to attend basic and advanced tanker cargo operations courses.

If you have not yet completed the tanker fire fighting element (which is a five-hour standalone course), we can offer this training combined with Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting.

A Training in Tanker Fire Fighting certificate will be issued upon completion.

In the near future, this combined training will be extended to delegates attending Training in Advanced Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations, Training in Advanced Oil Tanker Cargo Operations and Training in Advanced Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations.
