Masters Orals

About this course

This four week course enables candidates to achieve Master (Unlimited) certification by the MCA oral exam route. Students will receive tuition and guided study in preparation for the MCA oral exam. 

Students must also hold a valid STCW certificate in Proficiency in Medical Care| and Human Element, Leadership and Management (Management Level), and a personal medical fitness certificate recognised by the MCA before taking their MCA oral exam. If not already held, this course can be undertaken at Warsash outside of the main course.

Course delivery location

This course is delivered from Solent University's main East Park Terrace campus in Southampton city centre. Please refer to your joining instructions for information of where to report to when you arrive.

Course information

Prerequisites

  • Candidates must have completed 36 months’ watchkeeping service while holding an OOW Unlimited II/1 Certificate of Competency. This period may be reduced to 24 months if at least 12 months of such seagoing service has been served as Chief Mate while holding a Chief Mate Unlimited II/2 Certificate of Competency.

  • A valid personal medical fitness certificate recognised by the MCA.
