Small Vessel Chief Engineer - General Engineering Science I

About this course

Gain enormous benefits from the expertise of our dedicated maritime lecturers and an exceptional overall first time pass rate.

This course covers mechanics and stability, and prepares students to sit the MCA/SQA written examination.

Please note: we run General Engineering Science I and General Engineering Science II courses concurrently, allowing you to sit the MCA/SQA written exam for both parts on the ninth and tenth days. Please ensure you book both courses at the same time.

Pre-course preparation

This course is based on lecturer led learning and revision, followed by an exam on the afternoon of the final day. A full set of study notes is provided on application and 12 weeks’ preparatory study must be undertaken before starting the course.

On application, you will receive a website link and an access code - this will give you access to our teaching packs. These include course notes, past questions and other teaching materials which can be downloaded as a pdf for easy reading on laptops and mobile devices.

We strongly recommend you undertake at least 12 weeks' pre-study of our teaching packs before starting the course. Your time with us is essentially a revision week before the exam on the Friday.
