Small Vessel Second Engineer - Auxiliary Equipment Part 1

About this course

This course forms part of the new second engineer officer qualification for small vessels (less than 9,000kW and less than 3,000GT) with an unlimited area limitation.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our teaching as part of Solent University’s Warsash School of Maritime Science and Engineering. This is bolstered by an exceptional overall first-time pass rate of 85%. Gain enormous benefits from the expertise of our dedicated maritime lecturers, many of whom are ex-seafarers with either commercial or superyacht experience up to Chief Engineer (Unlimited) status.

This certification now covers new and experienced crew who wish to move into the small vessel environment as engineers. A CoC gained through this route will be transferable between the following industries:

  • Fishing vessels
  • Superyachts
  • Tugs
  • Workboats
  • Standby
  • Seismic survey
  • Oceanographic research vessels
  • Government patrol vessels

Further information about this new pathway can be found in MIN 524.
