About this course
This unit requires students to use their own experience, theoretical models and evidence from research to study the relationship between HR strategy and organisational success in the international maritime industry.
It aims to develop a critical perspective on how the shipping industry has approached HR planning and development in the last quarter century and on how the tension between cost and quality influences HR management strategies.
Students will explore how structural changes within the industry and legal and regulatory frameworks have influenced the resourcing and ethical management of the human element in corporate contexts.
This unit is one of the four comprising the Maritime Human Resource Management optional strand within the MSc Shipping Operations.
