Warsash Maritime Academy is at the forefront of engine room resource management training. We are proud to have both pioneered the use of simulators at the Academy, and be world leaders in providing higher level simulation training for bridge, engine, manned model ship handling and liquid cargo operations for several decades now.
We produced the world’s first merchant navy engine room simulator over 30 years ago. Since then, we have demonstrated our commitment to developing, introducing and delivering new courses that meet the ever-changing demands and training requirements of the international shipping industry.
After 12 months of careful planning, our engine room simulator facility underwent a complete renewal. This involved a new layout and room designs, structural changes and installation of a brand new full mission engine room simulator which was bespoke-designed in-house to meet the training requirements of the IMO STCW Code and the wider maritime industry. The project was completed in September 2012 and the facility was officially opened that October by Mr Milhar Fuazudeen, Head of Maritime Training and Human Element Maritime Safety Section, within the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

The set up of our full mission bridge and engine room simulators test communication, cooperation, situational awareness, decision making, team working, leadership and managerial skills. This ensures optimum bridge team and engine room resource management and operations.
