Officer Cadets of Warsash Maritime Academy represented the Merchant Navy in three Remembrance services to commemorate Armistice.
Four Officer Cadets participated in the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, parading with four Merchant Navy veterans on Saturday 10 November. The annual Festival of Remembrance commemorates and honours all those who have lost their lives in conflict, and is both a moving and enjoyable evening.
The Cadets said it was a day that they will never forget, [and] standing in front of the Royal Family when all the poppies were raining down was a really moving experience.
The MN veterans commented, "The Cadets at Warsash Maritime Academy are a real credit to the Merchant Navy and also a credit to their companies and to WMA. They were a pleasure to work with, smart of appearance, and very professional."
On Sunday 11 November, four Officer Cadets from Warsash Maritime Academy participated in the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London. This annual service held in front of the Queen is televised to millions of viewers each year and the Warsash Cadets represented the Merchant Navy. The Officer Cadets present felt it was a great honour to represent the Merchant Navy at such a high profile event.

WMA Officer Cadets once again represented Warsash Maritime Academy in the Warsash Parade and Service of Remembrance. Twenty six Officer Cadets marched with two standard bearers, with one Cadet to lay a wreath on the war memorial. After marching in the parade that was lead by a Scottish pipe and drum band a Service of Remembrance was held in St Mary's Church, Warsash. On completion of the parade all the Cadets were invited back to the British legion to meet up with all the veterans to enjoy a drink and lunch.
