Warsash Maritime Academy welcomed over 450 visitors to their Careers Open Day on Friday 28 June. Visitors arrived from all over the country, including Wales, Midlands, Cornwall and Kent. Overseas visitors came from France and even as far as Canada.

The Open Day showcased the lucrative opportunities available to college leavers and those looking for a change of career.
A programme of events went on throughout the day, where visitors were able to listen to talks on ‘Life as a merchant navy officer’, take command of a ship in the bridge simulator, navigate a passage using electronic charts, walk through a virtual engine room on a ship, watch fire fighting demonstrations and even a coastguard helicopter rescue with the Hamble Life Boat service, as well as distress flare demonstrations and observe students under tuition in the engineering workshop.
A key highlight to the occasion was the ability for visitors to meet the companies responsible for officer cadet training and recruitment.
