At this year’s Festival of Remembrance the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic was commemorated and the Warsash cadets had the honour of escorting six Merchant Navy Battle of the Atlantic Veterans into position for the special performance. They also paraded with the Veterans for the Service Muster.
On Sunday 10 November, the six officer cadets represented the Merchant Navy in the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London. This annual service held in front of the Queen is televised to millions of viewers each year.
The six cadets who attended were:
George said of the experience, “… an unforgettable, emotionally charged and honourable day. [I was] proud to take part.”
Warsash officer cadets again represented the Academy in the Warsash Parade and Service of Remembrance on Sunday 10 November. Thirty six officer cadets marched with two standard bearers, and one cadet to lay a wreath on the war memorial. After marching in the parade that was lead by a Scottish pipe and drum band, a Service of Remembrance was held in St Mary's Church, Warsash.
