passing-out-cadets-nov-15-300pxCongratulations go out to our 31 newly qualified deck officers from the September 2012 HND and January 2013 Foundation Degree cohorts.
Their achievement was celebrated with family and friends at the Autumn passing out ceremonial dinner on Saturday 28 November at the Novotel in Southampton.
The special ceremony marked the completion of their three-year merchant navy training and education programme for navigation at Warsash. The evening was also attended by the cadets' family and friends, as well as sponsors and representatives from shipping organisations, and staff from the University and the Academy.
John Bazley, Head of Academic and Certification Programmes, said: “We are very proud of what our cadets have achieved during the last three years - it takes a lot of hard work and determination to get to where they are today. These newly qualified officers will be embarking on their chosen careers in worldwide shipping, working with some of the most prestigious employers in the industry. The importance of their training, skills and expertise, like those of their fellow professional mariners, will sustain the world’s shipping trades and support the global economy. We wish them every success as they embark upon their professional careers”.
The maritime industry’s top employers and sponsors attended the ceremony and included: Anglo Eastern (UK) Ltd, Carisbrooke Shipping Plc, Carnival UK, Chiltern Maritime Ltd, Clyde Marine Training Ltd, Maersk Crewing Ltd, NYK LNG Ship management (UK) Ltd, Princess Cruises, Ship Safe Training Group Ltd, Trinity House, Viking Recruitment and Whilhelmson Line Car Carriers Ltd.
