On Saturday 25 June, 104 officer cadets celebrated the culmination of their training at their passing out ceremony. Held at the O2 Guildhall, Southampton, the ceremony is an opportunity for the cadets to toast their achievements with their family and friends, as well as their training managers and some of the Warsash academic staff.
The cadets will now be embarking on their chosen careers in worldwide shipping, working with some of the most prestigious employers in the cruise, cargo, container, oil and gas sectors.
The maritime industry’s top employers and sponsors attended the ceremony and included: Anglo Eastern (UK) Ltd, Bibby Ship Management UK Ltd, BP Shipping, Carnival UK, Chiltern Maritime Ltd, Clyde Marine Training, Condor Ferries, Maersk Crewing Ltd, Maritime Educational Foundation, NYK Shipmanagement (UK) Ltd, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Sealion Shipping, Ship Safe Training Group, Technip UK, Trinity House and Viking Recruitment.
Representatives from the MCA, Royal Institute of Navigation and the Warsash Association were also present.
The officer cadets were each handed completion certificates, and in addition, special awards were presented to the deck and marine engineer officer cadets who had performed to the highest standard throughout their cadetship and whose overall attainment in theoretical and practical elements is assessed as being outstanding among their peers by the Academy's lecturing staff.
