Project MariEMS presented to IMarEST

Zakirul Bhuiyan presenting MariEMS at IMarEST eventThe first multiplier event of project MariEMS (Maritime Energy Management Training Strategic Partnership) was recently held at Warwick University, during an IMarEST event. Senior lecturer, Zakirul Bhuiyan (lead investigator), presented the project to the audience while senior lecturer, Kunal Anand (co-investigator), co-hosted the event.

The attendees were mainly marine professionals, along with experts from other technological fields. The event provided an opportunity to gather feedback and industry responses from these professionals in relation to the newly-developed MariEMS Energy Manager Job Specifications and Training Programme.

Southampton Solent University is leading the Erasmus+ funded MariEMS project along with eight other partners across Europe, including four EU universities. This EU project is expected to help to reduce the energy usage on board ships, thereby reducing emissions and pollution. The project is also helping IMO and the EU achieve their stated emission targets through better training for the management of energy on board vessels.
